    HISTORY OF HIGH TOP
There has been a church called  "The Church at High Top" for over 100 years. It first began with an outdoor brush arbor...then was upgraded to a log building...then to a plank building...and finally to a concrete building, as it stands today.

It was in the Father's heart to have a clear and true witness of His Son high in these Kentucky hills. The church is located five miles outside, and above, the town of Jackson, Kentucky. However the work of God was not without opposition, and for 20 years the church was closed. Exposed to vandalism and decay, the building fell into disrepair, but God kept the walls of this little church standing.
God's purposes for High Top also stood firm. And in 1983, He brought John and Bonnie Wade and their family from Lexington to repair and rekindle the light of His testimony at High Top.

In 1995 a new roof was put on the church by the first Assembly of God of Woodstock, Illinois. And in 1996 the Church was completely remodeled by First Assembly of God Lexington Kentucky.

Every Sunday morning, the bell from the church steeple rings out across the misty hills and hollows. The bell is an open invitation for all to come and hear the good news that calls people out of the bondage of sin into the liberty found only in Christ.

    Church Services:
Sunday Praise and worship is at 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by Church services from 11:00 AM to 12:00 AM. We are located back in the mountains, a nice outing for the family through the forest and up and down the Kentucky hills. Any vehicle can make the trip, just follow the maps to Hightop Ministries as shown.

    Our Mission Statement

High Top Ministries is a non-profit Christian organization established to help meet both the physical and spiritual needs of the people in its region of Eastern Kentucky. The financial support of High Top does not come from governmental agencies, but from individuals and churches who see this as a way of participating in Christ's call to reach out to the poor. Although it is interdenominational in outreach, High Top's church affiliation is with the Assemblies of God.

    LOVE IN ACTION

There are opportunities on every hand to meet the physical needs of the people.
In John's words, "We simply do all we can, when we can. More is always needed. There has never been enough to go around, although many have been helped."
Food and clothing are offered to those in need. Each Christmas donated toys are given to the children. For many, this gift from the church is the only Christmas they have and their wide smiles are evittle church standing.
God's purposes for High Top also stood firm. And in 1983, He brought John and Bonnie Wade and their family from Lexington to repair and rekindle the light of His testimony at High Top.

    HOMECOMING

The annual Homecoming is scheduled for the first Sunday after Labor Day. Folks come from several states to attend this all day singing and preaching with dinner on the grounds. It draws in people from the area who aren't regular church-goers, and they get a taste of joyful Christianity as well as a solid gospel message.

This also a time to reunite the family of John and Bonnie. For them, it's a time to share in the joy that has grown since the start of High Top Ministries in 1983.

    MINISTRY NEEDS

    • The greatest need is for individuals and church groups to join with us in supporting and expanding this ministry. All offerings are tax deductible.  A receipt is sent out every month for all contributions.

    • The needs here at High Top are not emergency needs but daily, weekly, monthly ones. The needs are always with us because High Top is a ministry to the poor here in the  Mountains of Eastern Kentucky extending the love of Jesus in practical and tangible ways.

    • We welcome your personal visits to see the ministry firsthand.

    • We appreciate those who can come and give of their time and talents on various work projects.

    AGAPE HOUSE

Agape is a Greek word for love, a profound concern for the well-being of another, a love that sacrifices for the good of others. The building is where we have our Food Pantry. We purchase food from God's Pantry in Lexington, and then distribute it to deserving families in our area. The First Assembly of God in Niceville, Florida, donated and built the Agape House. It is funded by churches and individuals who share our desire to help feed the poor. This outreach is limited only by financial resources. At this point, the needs far outweigh the means. The Agape House is open the last three days of the Month from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. For emergencies we try to make the food available all during the month.

A Last Word WithYou

These are all "word pictures" to describe what High Top Ministries is all about. Most of the people we serve are unable to give financially, so we depend on folks like you who believe that what we're doing is directed by the Lord. This is why we are asking you to consider including us in your regular monthly giving.

We appreciate this opportunity to share our Ministry and heart with you, we are

In His Service,
John & Bonnie Wade

P.S., Please Remember Always, Jesus Loves You
